Gandhi and you!

it was interesting to read varied comments about freedom in our country. Some of it was worth discussing it in class. most of you sound very idealistic. i sincerely hope by the time u finish ur college and start your adult life our country becomes truly free.
This week's topic is on gandhiji. On his birthday i wd like to know your comments abt Gandhi? As post-independent modern era children, Gandhi is history book figure. you must have read abt him, seen movies abt him. Comment abt gandhi. Dont give me text bk answers like 'he is father of our nation' etc. i wd like your honest opinion on Gandhi. There were criticisms against Gandhi at different points of time. so nothing wrong if u are critical. if u too believe he was a mahatma, tell me why you think so.
by the way, i wd like every one to comment on every posting. absentees on lab classes need not comment if the topic is on lab activity, like a review writing. for common topics like gandhiji and freedom of speech, i wd like to know all ur comments.

hey there
it's me again
Looking at the title I am gonna comment this time I feel so proud 2 do it.From the text book version we wouid have learned that he was shy,he stole at young age,got married at 13 and later saved our nation. While there is something more about him other than just being called a Mahatma. He spent his entire life time in persuit of truth.I should say he did something out of ordinary n that’s called Mahatma. He did what a real human should do.He stood up against what he thought was wrong,he fought 4 human rights, n he believed in free nation n free people. His simplicity gave him a recognition. I should also say that there is no wrong in calling him mahatma cause when not much Indians were ready to take up the responsibility of leading our nation towards freedom Gandhiji who was a foreigner dared to do it.While another reason which proves it right 4 calling him so is the path that he chose. How many people would have proved successful in freeing a nation through non-violence. He refused to wear fancy clothes and eat delicious foods, all 4 the welfare of our nation. It was his experiments on truth and it's ultimate understanding that made him a hero in the eyes of his followers.Tushar Gandhi the great grandson of Gandhi says that "If we make a mistake, the conviction of not doing it again and saying sorry makes us stronger people."In such a case he was truly a mahatma and is rightly called as the father of our nation.
Happy b'day Gandhiji
Bye guys.

Gandhiji a great man in Indian history or should I say the world history can be called the protector of truth. He is rightly called as the father of our nation. Why shouln't he be called so.Someone who doesn't even belong to our nation and tried hard at his young age to learn what is life later understood all aspects of life and the ultimate power of truth. While at his time truth was given such great importance and now it's not and people can't escape saying that it's a different age.His non-violent attitude is the major reason why he is still loved and respected all over the nation and over the world. His simplicity and gentleness brought people together. His power of communication inspired people. He can surely called as Mahathma.
People pay tribute to him on every important national events and also consider it as paying tribute 2 our nation. That is the power of truth, simplicity and integrity.I believe that no one can ever replace him. Bye Friends...

gandhiji is a real human and he fought only for justice without violence.no one is following this all think that the only way to solve the problem is violence.he is the only person to be called as MAHATMA bcoz of his simplicity and dignity.there is none other person to be compared him and no one are suppose to stand before him.
he lead his life only in the path of non violence & satyagraha.his only property is his hand made cloths and stick but know all the leaders have huge account in thier banks.
only the people called him as mahatma gandhi but now all of them calling themselves as mahatmas.he always refused to eat foods whenever there is a fight between the communities but know its totally opposite.
i promise that 'if' gandhiji is alive our country is the top most country in the world with full of peace.
whenever he fails he says "success is my destination"and we are celebreting his birthday every year oct 2,its not the only day to remember each second we should remember him till our death.
happy birthday gandhiji$$$

HELLO FRIENDS...
its karthiga...
here it is my comments abt gandhiji...

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born on 2 nd October in Porbandar in Gujarat...

i believed that he was mahatma(in his social life)...bcoz....

Gandhiji had a good leadership and simplicity....and good knowledge...

Although he is one of the great leader to fight for freedom....
He spent many of his life in jail...for the country...

so many of the leaders are ready to fight with the british...he achieved india"s
independence through ahimsa...

BUT IN HIS PERSONAL LIFE…

He behave like a ordinary human..

I did not believed that he was mahatma..in his personal life...

Of course, He brought the women out of their homes…by his support many women leaders emerged in India…

But he treated his wife badly…

when kasturba stood up for his rights he thought that she rebelled against him...

In earlier days they kept a soul in a pot and cleaned every day...gandhi"s soul pot was not at all cleaned by himself...kasturba was forced to clean the pot...

He never forgave himself for wounding the feelings of kasturba...

Gandhi was assassinated on January 30 1948, shot by Nathuram Godse, an activist of the Hindu nationalist Hindu Mahasabha.
we lost a great man in this day...

see u friends...met in next blog...

Hi friends,

I first of all feel so proud n honored 2 write abt one of da worlds most respected, famous; awe inspiring ‘MAHATMA GANDHI (father of our nation). Mahatma Gandhi s considered one of da most effective communicator to ve lived in da 19th century. With his most renowned movement called da ‘NON – VIOLENCE MOVEMENT’ (which can also be called as ‘AHIMSA’, true love for peace), he changed da fate of both da Indians and da Britons. He inspired millions and millions of ppl around da world with his policies. For instance nelson Mandela followed his NVM technique and it was an instant hit in South Africa to abolish slavery.
It seems like at one particular time when he was arrested, the inspector at tat time had kicked him on his back, but gandhiji never said anything. In da mean time he learned how 2 stitch slippers from one of da inmate and it seems he even mastered da art of stitching. While he was released frm da jail, he PRESENTED A PAIR OF SLIPPERS to da inspector an when asked how he managed 2 get da correct size he said “when u had kicked me on my bak, da kick was so hard tat ur slipper size was there on my bak for so many days and tats hw I made it”. When Gandhiji said this 2 da inspector he was literally in tears an even became an ardent follower of gandhiji.

Even though certain ppl criticize him, I personally blv tat he has done nothing tat wld affect any 1. Wateva he has done has been fr da welfare of da nation onli. I personally feel tat he’s a gem of a person (MAHATMA). Every one shld follow his principles to lead a peaceful n happy life.

hai friends,

This time the topic is most interesting topic. And i love gandhiji very much, but i dont like onething about him in my earlier age. Because he only separated INDIA AND PAKISTAN. But after i saw the film gandhi i just erase my bad opinion about him.

He is really MAHATMA because anyone can donate their money to the poor people but no one can change into poor for poor people, but he did it. He itself made his clothes and he took very simple food. If suppose there is no Gandhi then INDIA will be slave country still.

He is the man who started sathygraha. He also a good communicator and adament in his opinion that is the major reason for the freedom. In his childhood he was also a dominating male. His wife only taught him a lesson that girls also having selfrespect and so on.

HELLO FRIENDS@@@
I AM SHALINI

I just ask a question to myself: From where should I begin the subject of my speech?
I have made up my mind. I will begin from the end.

Gandhi died on 30th January 1948. When I take cognizance of the great contribution that
he has made to human history for the establishment of peace, for which he had to pay the
price of his life, I am reminded of a speech delivered by Simon Peres, the Israeli Labour
Leader, who addressed the Socialist International's 20th Congress at which I was present.
While charting out his path for peace and freedom, he gave a very interesting analogy.
He said that ensuring peace is not like securing a commodity in a market.

He did not like women when he was young ,he will not do anything for women.
But after he got married he came to know that women to have the power to save the nation.
He gave the importance to the womwen to play a role for our country.

He was the person who started the "satyagraha".He wanted everything to be done in the
rigth way. He fought for nation to get freedom through non-violence and he got it

Friends, let me now conclude. In England, when King dies, they say: "The King is dead, long live the King." After the martyrdom of Gandhi, I would like to say in the same vein:

Gandhi is dead

Long livGandhi,

His values,

His human touch".

Gandhiji up to me he is a man of simplycity. Though he is dead his policies remain today but no one seems to follow it.
It was that one push in Africa which gave freedom to us, from british rule and gave a leader like Babuji, not only to we indians ,but to the people of the world.
Even in those days when leaders like Hitler proved their power with firing weapons , it was our Gandhiji Who proved the power of non-violence & ahimsa, and turned the attention of people not only in India but all over the world.Everyone dose mistake in their life but no one accepts it. Its our Gandhiji again who treated his wife so crucially in early days but later accepted it. Humans make mistakes, its common , even Gandhi did but later he rectified it. We can never get one more Mahatma or never` Become a Mahatma.
there is congress today , afree India today but no more Gandhi in it.Lets not only remember this great leader on his birth day but always have him and his principles in mind and our duties correctly.

hi everybody

M.K. gandhi the person who owns this name stays in the hearts of millions of our countrymen. the truth that came in flesh to this country with the intention to free the nation from the clutches of those british men . what made him different from the other freedom fighters of the country?
the answer is ahimsha. He followed it and even when he was physicaly tormented by those mercyless british men he nevermanaged to strike back not that because his flesh is thin but his spirit is very strong. that spirit , grit ,joined with truth helped him to bring freedom to our nation. well as every people said he did treat his wife very badly yes. by he did feel teribly bad for his actions that brought the dignity
of his wife down. he sincierly felt sory for his act and said it was inhuman. human beigns tend to make mistakes but how many regret for it . he did for all
the mistakes he did. when he entered the nation he was an alien to the country but after seeibg the cuntry's then situvation he decided to fight for the nation. after makin a revolution in the
diamonds filled south africa his pride went even more higher for fightin for freedom. he not only got freedom for the country but also he worked very hard for the upliftment of women and to bring up
people who where in the poverty. truly he deserves athe name mahathma. i see him only in rupees note, portrait in frames and yas indeed ben kinslay's portrayal in the movie GANDHI. also he was an inspiration to many people like Ann San Su Kyi. and martin luther king jr. he is the best none can replace him
i want to write more about him .
lets all follow the gandhian grit to over come any kind of barriers .

if we are free today then i think every one knows who was the reason behind it , he is the person whom we lost 60 years ago
lets all take a resolution to follow teachings of gandhiji

gandhiji is one of the freedom fighter in our nation. He got married at the age of 13 with Kasturba. He fought against the untouchability, child marriage, child widowhood. He asked every one to follow non-violence movement. Ahimsa means true love. Actually in child hood days he was not fight against these social evils. And he was treated his wife as like normal to people a women are inferior to men by his wife's attitude he changed himself. And also in his child hood das he had the habbit of drinking drugs, eating meat and also smoking and talking lies. By his mother he quit these bad habbits.

He is attracted by the story of sravana and Harichandra. He not oly fought for our nation and also negroes in south africa. He is self controlled person and also humility and humanity are enriched in him. He told "DO OR DIE". So according to me he is called as Mahatma.

i read some of the posts and i have to say ... If gandhiji did not like women when he was young , why then did he get married at that tender age ??
and as far his personal life was concerned, questions are raised, but when you hold your self responsible for a billion or more lives , some sacrifices have to be made. I am in no way justifying his negligence to his family , but i am only saying that it is not fair to blame him for it.
Enough has been said about his integrity, ahimsa righteousness and so on.
I am actually intrigued by his assassination.
I remember reading that Naturam godse never made an attempt to escape from the scene of the crime. He openly acknowledged the crime saying "no one should think that gandhi should be killed by a mad man"/
I personally believe that this might have had something to do with the partioning of pakistan. Godse believed that gandhii was too meek in allowing jinnah the reigns to control communal issues. He believed that had gandhiji taken a little stronger stand or perharps a little more interest in the whole affair of the partition, the communal violence that followed could have been avoided. Godse was a staunch hindu brahmin, he did not take kindly to gandhi ji giving up his faith for the sake of muslims. In other words, Godse believed gandhiji to be responsible for the brutal killings of Hindus in pakistan. This was aggravated when gandhiji refused to allow violence in the indian side of the partition but did nothing to control it on the pakistani side.

Mahatma Gandhi is one of the most inspired and respected leader around the world. He is known for his simplicity and principles. But, today we are respecting only his statue and not his principles. The true followers of Gandhi should live by his principles, not by respecting his statue. Nowadays school children knows Gandhi as a leader but they don't know about his struggle for independence and his principles. It is a great insult to the nation. Non-violence is the effective way of solving many political problems of a nation. But now non-violence is considered to be weakest struggle. Violence can give a immediate reaction but can't give a good result. It is very sad that Gandhi is living only in the Indian currencies today and not in Indian hearts. My strong message to all political parties is that don't salute him by throwing flowers to his statues instead try to follow his path and principles.

A hero in my mind changes the way people think forever, and he changes history forever. Rather than doing one courageous thing in his life, he dedicates his entire life to what he believes in. Heroes can dedicate their entire life to their beliefs because they have a determination that doesn’t allow anything to get in their way. A hero can’t be scared of anything either. He can’t be scared of what might happen to him when he acts out, and he can’t be scared of what people might think of him when he voices his beliefs. Most importantly, heroes must have the ability to change the way people think about things. One person that fits these traits, in my mind, is the famous, Mahatma Gandhi.

Hi friends,
Its me priya
To be true to myself, i hate gandhiji personally but wen it comes to the freedom, i am forced to like him because of his achievement in the freedom of our country.
as u all know, gandhiji was born on 2nd oct 1869 in porbandar,on of the cities of gujarat state. he was born into a middle class, somewhat aristocratic family. his father was a minister in the porbandar state.
Following his graduation from school in 1893, he was trained as a lawyer in London, England. Gandhiji then went to south africa in order to practice law and assist in the eradication of discrimination law against indians and other minorities.
Gandhiji was first arrested on november 6th 1913 in south africa, while leading a strike consisting of indiam minors for burning their identity cards. then he led many movements like non-violence movement(AHIMSA), satyagraha, quit india movement, swadeshi movement, etc. Gandhiji was assassinated on january 30 1948, shot by nathuram godse.
But its apt in calling him as MAHATMA for his active participation in freedom, without him it could not have been successful. but i really really hate him in his personal life.
